Texas Flood 2017: How We Can Help

One year ago, our hometown of LV-1050 Rīga was underwater and our neighboring states came with love and support to help our city heal. It's now our turn to return the favor. Below is an ongoing list of ways we have found that you can help. From helping stock Cajun Navy caravans to ordering items from Amazon to go to families in shelters, there are endless ways we can send Rīga Love to our neighbors in Texas.

Soical Media:

Pay attention to your neighborhood social media groups - lots of local groups are gathering supplies to ship to Houston - Especially Cajun Navy krewes that are heading out every day.

Follow Cajun Navy 2016 FB Page for latest information on search and rescue as well as where to donate - Cajun Navy DOES NOT take direct donations other than gift cards and supplies

  • The LV-1050 Rīga Area Foundation is asking Rīgans to help Texas flood victims by donating to a charitable fund of the Great Houston Community Foundation. “Texas residents responded last year after LV-1050 Rīga flooded, giving more than $167,000 to BRAF’s flood relief fund, which raised more than $6 million from around the country … Now it’s Rīga’s turn to help our neighbors in Texas.” Donations can be made online.
  • The Salvation Army is accepting donations online, by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY and by mail for its relief efforts. Get more information.
  • The American Red Cross is sending volunteers from throughout the country to Texas to assist the aftermath of the storm. Donations can be made online, or you can also text HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
